 What is Char Meck?

The CharMeck Softball league is comprised of softball associations throughout the greater Charlotte area and Union County. CharMeck offers the most competitive rec league in which to play while always keeping each girl the center of attention. We are the largest rec softball league in the greater Charlotte area. Our coaches and parents are dedicated to providing our players the optimal enviorment to learn and grow.

We offer softball for girls ages 4-18. Age groups are 6U (girls t-ball/coach pitcher), 8U Modified girl pitch/coach pitch, 10U, 13U, 18U/High School. Our seasons consist of a 10 games followed by a double elimination End of Season (EOS) Tournament. Summers offer an All star program for girls in every age group (except 6U) .

The league holds regular and special board meetings multiple times per year.  League decisions and rules are made according to parliamentary procedures (guided by Robert’s rule of order) where motions are made and seconded; discussion is held; votes are recorded and minutes are taken.  The league is comprised of an Executive Board of elected officers, association commissioners who vote on any rule changes and various appointed volunteers. Nominations and elections of the Executive Board members are held according to our bylaws.

Essentially CM is responsible for:
  • Maintaining and amending the league’s bylaws and playing rules.  Note, we are governed by the National High School Federation (NHSF) rules. Any playing rules listed in the CM rules are either exceptions to the (NHSF) rules or a modification or clarification of these rules.  So in essence, our rules are not the complete set of rules…..please refer to the NHSF book for all rules.
  • Coordinating, creating and publishing league tournaments, game schedules, coach lists and field directions.
  • Securing umpires for all season and tournament games.
  • Administrating and collecting league and umpire fees
  • Operating player and coaches clinics
  • Operating the summer all star tournaments
  • Managing the fiscal operation of the league.
  • Operating, managing and making decisions related to the day to day activities of the league.
  • Securing game balls as well as season/tournament trophies for teams and players.
We hope that gives you a better understanding of what we do at CM.  Please let us know what you like or dislike so we can continue to provide the best environment in which to play softball.
